This quote seemed adequate for my post today. I have a few high school graduation cards to make and of course my gift will more than likely be "money". I can remember the excitement of my graduation and receiving those long-awaited cards in the mail from family and friends.
That sentence may suprise some of you as you know most days, I can't even remember where I am or what I should be doing! I suppose each day for me is still an "adventure" !

I had this card saved on my computer for a while now and thought I would try to copy it. this one if for a special fellow who has grown close to my heart. Hope he enjoys it.

I'm sure I am not the only one that is "sick" of rainy weather.
I have a shoebox swap coming up in Northern KY and this is the card I have chosen to make...
First the Tools of the Trade:

Now, if you have been to any of my classes or workshops, you should recognize these items. We have the watercolor markers--can you guess the names?
Ribbon is 3/8" taffeta in certainly celery (119767) This ribbon lays so nicely on cards and mails without any bumps..
Punch - is one of my favorites, Scallop Edge Border (119882) and embossing folder named"Framed Tulips" (121809) Cardstock is certainly celery, daffodil delight, melon mambo and whisper white -- now do you know the color names of the markers? Hee-Hee!

Finished card: WOW! Does this say Spring to you? Of course the words spell *hello* which is one of the newest stamps in Stampin Up spring mini -- Hello Blossoms--

I used the direct to rubber technique, coloring the rubber with the markers and then stamping onto my cardstock.

This card uses the brayer on the Embossing Folder Vintage Wallpaper. To do this technique you need to brayer one side of the embossing folder, depending on which side you brayer the embossing folder will determine the outcome.

Time Management

How do you find time to craft?

Time Management, yikes. There should be a 4 letter word that means the same as those two together because, let me tell you, say "Time Management" in front of people and they cringe!

Like you, I'm a busy person. I love my family and my life. Doing what needs to be done (chores, meals, activities, etc.) fill a day very easily. My Stampin'Up! business, including this blog, is my guilty pleasure but it can only happen if I'm organized enough to take care of the rest first.

Today I have taken some time and am in my craft room! It is rainy and dreary, so I needed some cheering up - Inky fingers will cheer me up like nothing else - WaHoo!

Here are a sampling of my 2 note card sets that I created today. I'm packaging them as 6 cards with envelopes and leaving them blank inside -- Priced at $8.00 set

I'm Doing It Again!

Can you guess - What I am doing, Again? Well, nothing super just re-arranging this darn room again! My hubby just put up a piece of wood to use as a work table! He is pretty handy to have around and we usually have scraps of wood laying around as my youngest son's profession is finish carpenter and brings us his leftovers from custom built-ins that he does.
I think it will be so useful because I won't have to move my cutter, Big Shot, dies and all that "stuff" I can't work without! And it's just the right height....
Here is a picture - not fancy but useful - still have a long way to go!

Anyone recognize the "bag" on the floor? WooHoo Leadership! As you see, it didn't take long to fill this space up and I love that my 2 roll-arounds fit under the table they wer behind my door and totally in the way!

Stampin' Up Grid Paper

Before I begin to stamp...even before I choose my inks, stamp set and card stock, I reach for one tool every time - Stampin' Up!'s Grid Paper. catalog page # 198 #102787 $9.95

The main purpose of this pad of 100 sheets of 11" x 17" paper is to protect your work surface. But there are many more uses. The paper has a ruler printed on the edges, a chart with common card dimensions and plenty of room to take notes about your project like what colors you used and what size you cut embellishments. The grid is marked at ¼" squares so it makes alignment of project elements a snap.

You will find this paper perfect for using under a Stampin' Up! wheeled project. You'll have lots of room to run you wheel right over the edge of your card stock without worrying about getting ink on your working surface. You know what a potential mess using glitter can be...put down a sheet of grid paper and when your are finished sprinkling your work of art you won't have glitter all over your work space. Of course, for those who know me, "being punchie" would just be part of my personality description LOL; but they love me anyway - Right?

I joined a swap in order to get some ideas of how to use punches. If you have viewed a Stampin'Up! catalog, you know they have tons of them and I have almost every one they offer!

**Assignments: You will be assigned a roommate by me and will be required to accommodate your roomie with a monthly gift box . This will be done on the “honor” system, so make sure each of you take care of your personal “roomie”. Gifts can be anything you want with the exception of at least 2 items must be crafted by you!

Fun ideas: send them pamphlets from tourists places, make them a scrap page of your virtual time together, create a unique 3-d item just for your “roomie”.

Think of this fun retreat as a trip to a large stamping and craft convention. – Be silly, cutesy, funny, let’s just make our “roomie” smile when they receive their box!

Valentine Cards

How close Valentine's Day is! I am trying to be a good crafter and use up all those supplies that I have been hoarding for six years! Maybe you are like me - I just LOVE looking at the stuff!

Delightful designer papers, colorful embellishments, touching all the beautiful ribbons and their textures, and let's not forget cardstock -- Must have every color their is! Ummmm a dream come true!

Ok, enough of my insane thoughts~Now I'm going to show you some items I've been making, most of which were "cased " from blogs I follow online....and of which I always forget to write down for referral....so if you are looking and see your designs -- thank you so much and please leave a comment, I would love for others to check out your work that appealed to me so much....

These two darling treat holders hold a large cookie for my two sweet grandchildren (this is one of those tutorials I forgot who made it!? They were easy to make out of 12x12 c/s.

Hello to my Friends and Family! I am embarrased to say that I have not blogged for so long~I think I am Queen of Laziness!!! Really, there are just things that keep me busy (not productive) but hey, that's my life.... We ended up having a Thanksgiving dinner -- which Gayle decided we would do on Tuesday before....anywho, a nice day with the boys and their families!

My crafting projects have been making lots of cute items for craft fairs and bazaars with my firend Joani . We launched into this new world with great expectations of having "Sold Out" signs on our booths -- NOT! Both craft fairs were duds and we sold very little. We have come to the conclusion that we live in the wrong area - we think we should move to Florence (KY-that is)! Our friend Beth does fabulous with her items and they are so cute - I have linked to both blogs so take a peek!

I am so happy to be back on track! My mojo comes and goes, but hey , today it is working and so am I....there is going to be a craft fair coming up in our area, and my friend Joani and I have dived right into another area of crafting! A row of bottles on my shelf

Caused me to analyze myself.

One yellow pill I have to pop

Goes to my heart so it won't stop.

A little white one that I take

Goes to my hands so they won't shake.

The blue ones that I use a lot

Tell me I'm happy when I'm not.

The purple pill goes to my brain

And tells me that I have no pain.

The capsules tell me not to wheeze

Or cough or choke or even sneeze..

The red ones, smallest of them all

Go to my blood so I won't fall.

The orange ones, very big and bright

Prevent my leg cramps in the night.

Such an array of brilliant pills

Finding Faith in Relationships

Purse card that Joani made for me - gotta love it!

Satan plays dirty. Really dirty.
He is so clever at finding our weak spots, to trip us up as we walk the paths God has for us. He whispers not-so-sweet nothings in our ears. He beguiles us with our best temptations. He tells us we deserve the best. But we have grown strong and mature in the Spirit and we keep hanging on to God--and we don’t succumb.
That’s when Satan takes the gloves off. If he can’t cause us to stumble, he attacks those areas we are weak in (for me it is finances). He whispers and beguiles and spray paints lots of greener grass, laying his traps for our vulnerabilities.
He distracts us from God’s work for us. And he inflicts so much pain in the process.

These words may not mean much to you, but if you are a born-again Christian, you will understand these thoughts. The past few months has tormented me and my husband with more problems than you could think of! But, God always opens a door for us, it just has to be our will to go through it.

This week I decided to go through that door. Normally, I stay at home and after my basic (and yes, I mean basic) housework is done, I enjoy browsing blogs of fellow stampers. It amazes me of their creativity! Designing a card or scrapbook page is not difficult but color co-ordination is a challenge for me. Ok, on to my story - my neighbor asked me to ride with her to her doctor's appt in a neighboring town. We had a great time discussing spiritual viewpoints and how easy it is to be "sidetracked" just in our daily walk. She treated me to lunch at Pizza Hut and I ordered lasagne, my favorite pasta dish. The day was just refreshing and opened my eyes to the blessings my husband has provided me; a nice home, all my critical needs are met, he has no objections to my Stampin'Up hobby (scrapbooking and cardmaking) and most of all , he loves God and me.

I have also been blessed with stamping friends that the internet brought into my life, some I have had the pleasure to meet in person and have play dates for our stamping obsession! Just check out some of my favorite links listed on this blog and you will see the special people in my life. Catching Up on a Lost Project!

Does this look familiar to any Scrapbookers?? Yes, these are scrap pages that just need final touches, like embellishments, journaling, headers, etc. I finished these last year while we were camping in W. Va. Gayle had a job up there for about 3 months, so we took our camper and this is what I did to occupy my time. By the way, it has taken me months and months to put away all the craft items I had loaded up in the camper, so now I will turn my attention to this chore. I started out doing scrapbooks in chronological order (with 2 grandkids was pretty easy to keep up). Now, I am going back and doing some of my two boys in their earlier years, so scrapping is done haphazardly. I just pick out photos, then go to my paper stash - I even try to use my delicious hoard of designer papers and ribbons. They just are so fun to look at!

My Garden Story

Caretaker of my garden!

Water fountain and pond has been redone several times and I still can't decide what it needs. Originally I had goldfish and they lasted about 3 years even thru winter...

The Herb Garden is delightful in scent and color variation all through spring, summer, and

the fall.

When I get up in the morning and stand at my back door - ummmm the wonderful smell of lilac!

Lilac has to be my favorite smell of all. A garden is sorta like writing a book - you never know what will go into the next chapter (or in this case, an empty spot in the yard). I have always enjoyed planting shrubs and trees - I'm not a very "flowery" person, so they are used sparingly; I enjoy my plants to be random instead of a structured formal look.

First photo is the lilac bush - it has really grown in the last 3 years and the smell is heavenly.

Photo on bottom left is a variagated weeping tree that was suppose to grow only to about 5 feet tall and wide -- it is lovely in the spring and I have it beside our back deck.

Photo on bottom right are my purple iris - they are planted beside the steps leading to our front door. These iris's have many miles on them! They originally came from my mother's home, and I have moved them over the past 35+ years every time we moved - and that was almost every year! So they are very durable for a beginner gardener.

A few years ago, the back of our house was abundant with all types of ground covers, bee balm (butterflies love them), lavender and to the side was my herb garden, which now I have put in pots. The weeds took over last year, as I was not able to tend because of my arthritic shoulder, so my hubby sprayed with something that will destroy all weeds for one year - therefore, herbs ( sweet basil, purple basil, rosemary, dill, sage) are in pots for this season.......I will pick them and dry them in paper bags to use for seasonings.

Both of our boys came by for a visit and bearing gifts of mother's day cards and lovely ferns for hanging on my deck... It was a lovely day to sit around outside and just enjoy being outdoors.

Unfortunately, our deck has been claimed by "carpenter bees" - and they are feared by all my visitors! We have tried numerous sprays, caulking, painting, but nothing deters them each year. I get fed up with them and take a butterfly net to catch them, step on them, and what happens?

Six more will come in their place....Click on the link above, to see what is happening to wood when these bees "visit" you! I am ready to send them packing to never never land.....maybe I will order some of this insecticide and feed it to them?!?!?

Polly Pockets

Friday's are sleepover nights for Chloe and Hunter. Gayle and I look forward to this time each week with the grandchildren. They are always full of energy and excited to tell us (both at the same time) what they have done during the week.
Usually we have play-dough time but Hunter wasn't interested to today, he wanted to play with our dog, Budye (a bichon). As they were having a good time, Chloe went and got her box of Polly Pockets and we dressed, undressed, dressed and then took them out to play in the rain.

Bedtime is where my patience comes in - praise the Lord that he has given me this patience - I just wish I had it when my boys were small- it would saved us all a lot of bad times. They have bunkbeds at our house, but still will not sleep in them overnight - it's more of a play yard for them. So Gayle slept in the bottom bunk and I shared the big bed with two babes that have arms and legs that go everywhere when they sleep! It's the usual ritual of potty time, brush teeth, getting a drink, getting their sleep buddies and just plain old settling down.

Their mom is really good at making sure her family has healthy foods to eat. Well, mamaw and papaw serve chocolate donuts for breakfast - How fun is that?
We always have hard boiled eggs and bacon also. One of my e-mail buddies sent me this awesome you-tube video on how to peel eggs. So I tried it out and it was a hit with the grandkids. Got grandkids or little ones? Go here and make them WOW over you!

Monday was another rainy, dreary day here in good ol' Kentucky! No way it was going to get me down, I had the privilege of attending a wonderful stamp camp hosted by a new friend, Anne, who lives in Georgetown. Joani and Rose also went and we had a wonderful day of stamping and fellowship. All products used are Stampin' Up!, so even if you feel you are "creatively challenged" these products make you look like a professional!

Life gets craze around here sometimes, but I am in my stamp room today and I suppose yesterday got me excited to stamp. I am way behind in thank you's so decided to make a few quick cards and get them in the mail

Altering 101

Wow! What a beautiful day this has been! Gayle did not have work today, so he got to enjoy the warmth and sunshine, even though most of his day was spent either in the greenhouse or his garage. He has been "altering" an old boat trailor to make it work for our golfcart so we can take it camping with us - I'm hoping camping time is just a few weeks away!

We got to have the company of Chloe and Hunter this morning. Traci had a photo shoot at her studio and Jason needed to finish a carpentry job in Lexington. They ate breakfast with us, then was ready to go outside. I needed to do some computer work, before we ventured outside, so I asked them what craft they would like to do.

Chloe wanted to re-decorate one of my Target mailboxes, but I like it the way it is. I happened to have a red one and a white one that had not been "altered" yet.

My desk had bunches of scrap paper on it - so with the help of a few punches, some embellishments that were in a drawer, few pieces of scrap ribbon and of course we had to have "bling" - here are the results...... ( I won't show you what the floor and the 2 work tables look like right now)!

We spent rest of the morning and noon time riding around in the golf cart learning about nature, checking all the trees and evergreen shrubs for "pupae"-- a new word Chloe is using now. She informed me this meant insects changing from one stage to another stage. We really wanted to find a "butterfly chrysalis" but we never found one.

Oh Yes! I failed to mention that this golf cart has had it's share of "altering" also. So, if anything in our house, garage, shop, greenhouse, etc. will sit still long enough - it will also be changed just like the pupae !

That is just what these five ladies did at Joani and Rose's home. They are such great hostesses - we can never thank them enough for the fellowship, food, fun and delightful cards we leave with each time we visit.

Hello family and friends. Here's hoping your Easter was as nice as mine! Church services this morning were extra special as they had the youth and 5 and under children singing with the choir. Some are so talented with lovely voices.

Wish I had a photo to show you - they had a wooden cross that was covered with chicken wire, and each person in attendance was given a carnation when they entered. We then took our carnations and put them on the cross --It Came Alive with various colors and reminded us that Jesus Lives! I had never seen this done and really thought it was a thought-provoking gesture.

Lunch was at my house with both my boys coming over. My grandkids even ate lunch just so they could open the small gifts Gayle and I had gotten them. The Easter Bunny came their house and left some surprises for them.

Of course, Easter would not be complete without an egg hunt! I got the privilege of hiding the eggs and what fun Hunter and Chloe had finding them--they just couldn't figure out how bunnies got eggs in trees!

My goodness, this morning started out lovely but by noon it is gloomy and stormy...Good day to just stay in and stamp, except I have a hair appt today. This morning I worked on a few cards.

The intention was to clean off my desk, which is always laden with cardstock, papers, stamps, adhesive, ribbon, food, drink and anything else that can be thought of!

I ran across this cute Stampin Up set that was a level 2 hostess in the fall 2008 catalog. YES, it probably has been there for that length of time. Well, I mounted it and used it for the following cards which I decided NOT to watercolor for a different effect (an easy excuse for running out of time). All paper and cardstock used was found in the above mess! Good way to use it up instead of trying to file it away. Now that SU will bringing out new "In-Colors" in July, I have discovered that Baja Breeze is working with lots of the non-su designer paper I have on hand.

Go figure! My creative mojo hits at the most inconvenient times!

When the new Stampin Up catalog comes out, I will surely become addictive to them just as easily, maybe I won't wait so long.

OK that's what I have done today - now go do the dishes, fix a jello salad for Sunday dinner. I like to get those items done ahead.

Wow! Friday, March 27th was a terrific day for me. Joani and Rose and I ventured out to Louisville, KY to attend the Creating Keepsakes show. The day was sunny even though just a bit windy, no rain, easy traffic, found a close parking place, had a $5.00 discount for entry fee -- What more could a scrapper/cardmaker ask for????

Lots of vendors and attendees to oooooh and aaaah over products. Some vendors had make-n-takes, but this year they charged a fee, so we skipped this part to see what products we could spend our money on instead. We really did not find any great bargains, but I saw several products that I was not familiar with, watched some demos of them being used - stayed away from the Copic markers, but made myself at home at the "Skinny Cow" ice cream booth!!!! YUM

I recently read this cute story in a christian magazine. I could relate to this and wanted to share with my blog friends. NOW for the fun part--comment with a similar embarrasing situation you have had and on Monday, March 23rd - I will randomly draw a winner for items you must always have in your purse (can't show you a photo or it won't be a surprise!)

A Purse Full of Purpose
“That’ll be $1.86,” the clerk told me as she twirled her hair. Reaching into my purse, I began the search for the loose dollar bills I had dropped in from a previous bank run. Triumphantly, I raised a one dollar and laid it on the counter. The clerk smirked with impatience and began to mentally sum up the items of the man behind me. Feeling the pressure to conclude this transaction, I continued looking until I spotted another dollar at the bottom of the purse. I exclaimed, “Here it is!” as I extracted the dollar and placed it in the clerk’s hand. Then she looked at me and then looked at her hand. She began to laugh. I always like a good joke so I began giggling, too. She held up my other “dollar.” I had handed the lady a panty liner! Horrified, I mumbled, “I suppose you only take American currency here.” I threw some change down, grabbed my goods and made a break for the car.

You might ask, “How could that happen?” That question could only come from those women who carry what I like to call the “Boy Scout Purse.” The people who carry this type of purse believe “A place for everything and everything in its place.” This purse-carrier is handy to have around because its owner is always prepared—no matter what. Got a cut? They’ve got a Band-Aid. Lost a button? They’ve got needle and thread. Short on money? They’ve got a coupon—lots of coupons.
Now, mind you, I have all of those things in my purse, too. It’s just a different type of system. I like to think of my purse as “free and spontaneous.” My husband calls it “The Black Hole.” If he needs money I’ll tell him, “Look in my purse.” He rolls his eyes and says something like, “I’ll find a giant squid sooner.” I laugh, “You just have to know where to look.” I take the purse and begin to pull out all kinds of fabulous items. There's a rumpled used tissue, wadded up candy wrappers, here’s a sticky note with a message on it to call someone.” Unfortunately, it’s sticky for reasons other than the manufacturer’s design a few coins in the very bottom and finally a $5.00 bill stuck in a lone corner. “See, it’s all in there,” I smugly reply. But there’s no answer. He's already found his checkbook.

I've even got in the car to go run errands when-- Oh, no! It’s not there. I can’t believe it. I’ve forgotten my purse. I can’t go anywhere without it. What a terrible feeling. I stop immediately, go back to the house to pick up my purse so I can get on with my day.

Yeah! I have been busy this week making CARDS!
The caffeine frenzy is an ATC for a swap -- I liked the way it turned out.

The blue and black card I used an older Stampin Up set called Tender Toile, all products used are from Stampin' Up!---"Don't forget that "Stampin' Up!" is now have their annual sale-a-bration-- spend only $50.00 and receive a free stamp set from the SAB catalog- gotta love FREE!

Better get Better card was made using a Hanna Stamps Riley stamp - isn't he adorable? My BIL fractured is knee and had surgery, so this card went to him.

I used the new Stampin' Up! stamp set "Pretty Amazing" (page 93 of the Spring/Summer 09 catalog) . The bird and flower (maybe a peoni or mum?) just makes for a beautiful combo.

Cardstock and inks used were Kiwi Kiss and Lovely Lilac.

My Cleaning Poem

I asked the Lord to tell me Why my house is such a mess.
He asked if I'd been 'computering',
And I had to answer 'yes.'
He told me to get off my fanny and tidy up the house.

And so I started cleaning up... The smudges off my mouse.
I wiped and shined the topside.
That really did the trick.... I was just admiring my work...
I didn't mean to 'click.' But click, I did,
and oops I found A real absorbing site.
That I got SO way into. I was into it all night.

I was reading this article and thought it was worth sharing.

I am not a dieter - but do enjoy being healthy.

Eat Right. Live Well. Love God.

Listen to your body’s signals for hunger and fullness.

This week, ask yourself: What am I really experiencing – stomach hunger, eye hunger, heart hunger, or mind hunger? Some helpful tips:

**Practice eating until you are not quite satisfied. Wait 15 minutes and ask yourself again if you feel satisfied. This simple exercise can help to give you the confidence of eating slightly less than you’re used to but knowing that in a few minutes you’ll be satisfied.

**Eye hunger may occur when you see a tempting food – for example, when you pass a bakery. Avoid the sight of food temptations when you can.

**Heart hunger or emotional hunger may happen when you are feeling stressed or tired and you eat to avoid strong emotions or to feel better. If you realize you aren’t physically hungry, ask yourself, “What am I trying to feed?”

**Start to record your mood and thoughts in a journal.

Now as I mentioned, cleaning - ugh - I despise it with a capital D.......look at this photo to see how much stuff has accumulated (by who's hand, I do not know) Would ROFL but there is not a clear space to accommodate me!

I had these wooded shelves with bins in them, but I never could find stuff I needed even though they were labeled. I am a labeler! So, I went to the garage and cleaned the dust off my rolling plastic thingies and started again. It really seems simpler for me. I am even taking my favorite Stampin"Up! stamps out of their boxes and arranging them in drawers by labels such as: Sentiments, Inspirational, Page Starters, Christmas, Other Holidays. Now I can go to that drawer, look at the stamps, pick out the message for my card or scrapbook and put it back (important factor here). Anybody want to share their craft rooms?

Getting Back on Track

How can it possibly be day 5 of 2009? Hubby went back to work today and I have gotten nothing done except blog-hop! Some friends from church did stop by and chatted for a while, I love visitors.

HO-Ho-Ho! Gayle and I wrapped gifts today, and just remembered I didnt get any photo's -- how silly of me-- and we had the biggest mess you ever seen. We set up a table in the living room, dumped all the bows and ribbon on the sofa (fun for dogs and cats) and then started wrapping. I always try to make a list as we wrap, so that i can double check if all the gifts I purchased early , or maybe tried to hide, has been accounted for. Wasn't too hard this year, because like most everyone I know, we cut back on the gift giving.

OK - now let's have some fun! I found a few jokes to cheer us all up after spending those last few "christmas bucks".

FaLaLaLaLa! We went Christmas shopping! So you think "why are they shopping in Canada?"
I suppose because I can say we did?!?!? We checked out several stores and Gayle found several items for his list. Can't tell you who or what - 'cause Santa is checking his list twice...

I have been trying to upload some photo's but so far haven't had any luck. And again, no luck!

The weather is chilly with about 6 inches of snow but they keep everything passable and no problems getting around. Everyone is courteous in their driving habits, which makes it easier for us to motivate around. Made a trip to a local grocery for sandwich and junk food for this weekend and sitting around watching Christmas movies on the tv.

Oh yeah, we are probably the only room in the hotel with our heater in "fan" mode instead of "heat". We are on the first floor but the rooms must be insulated really well since right now it is 20 degrees......

Each day, I have been checking out Scrapbook.com for their holiday specials. I ran across the page that shows "scrapbooker personality" on it. After much consideration, I'm still in the dark as to what kind of personality I should choose as my own...How about my readers checking this site and let me know what they think "my personality" as a scrapbooker is...

OK, this is Day 6 in Canada and I wanna go home!!!!! The day we arrived here, I awoke with a nasty stopped up head and cold - I'm coughing constantly and just feel so yucky!

This ailment is cutting into my shopping and touring time. There is a store around the hotel called "Canada Tire" - they sell lots of merchandise other than what their name implies. They featured a terrific sale on thursday and I found something for Chloe and Hunter that was on their list - YEAH - that made me feel better!
